Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Knockainy West

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Knockainy West 3 is a small circular stone enclosure measuring no more than fifteen by ten metres, yet its compact shape suggests a crowded life rather than empty field. People may have stood inside that narrow ring, listening to rain strike flat stones or watching shadows lengthen across the low wall. The fort keeps its size small because memory likes clarity. What cannot be imagined easily is forgotten, but what can be seen in the mind continues alive.
Small stone enclosure listed as Knockainy West 3 and described by Grogan (1989, 286) as a small circular-shaped area (max. dims. 15m x 10m).
