Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible fort stands in Heirhill today. The measureable facts are absent from the supplied details, and invention would fabricate a lost place rather than describe a real one.
Internal diameter 23.6m N-S This low circular univallate cahir is situated on pastureland which is gently sloping E. The view from this site is excellent in all directions. The enclosing bank rises to .9m externally and to .6m internally. The interior, which is at much the same level as the surrounding land, has a hut site (KE014-009001-) contained within the enclosing bank on the N side. It is 3m N-S and 3.5m E-W. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 818. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 3 August 2013
