Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Garvalt Lower

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Garvalt Lower: local tradition says a large stone ringfort stands on the hill summit, but no one has marked it since conifers closed the ground. It may still be there under the trees, waiting for someone lost enough to walk in and see its stones.
Tradition of large stone 'fort' at the summit of a hill (local information). Situated within a dense modern plantation of coniferous trees. Not located. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 December 2008
