Doonmacfelim holds a collapsed double-faced cashel above a multiperiod field system, its limestone walls reduced to shallow ribs and scattered boulders. The name gives the fortress to fairies, but the shape points to people: a small defensible circle on a visible rise, built to be seen and hard to enter. Another cashel and an enclosure stand nearby, suggesting a occupied landscape rather than a lonely mound. Human hands may have made the rings, while memory redirected them into fairy ownership.

On a rise in undulating limestone outcrop, offering wide views over the surrounding extensive multiperiod field system (CL008-109001-). Hachured on the 1897 OS 25-inch plan and 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as 'Mound' in the RMP (1996). A circular cashel (int. dims. 14.2m N-S; 14m E-W) defined by a collapsed and overgrown double-faced wall (av. Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.4m) with associated tumble (Wth 2m on either side of the wall). At S and NNW two distinct outer wall-faces are visible, suggesting that the wall was stepped. The cashel interior slopes very gently to SW and is covered with loose boulders. There is another cashel (CL008A003004-) c. 29m to SW, and an enclosure (CL008A003009-) c. 38m to ENE.
