Doonmacfelim holds a subcircular cashel thirty-four metres wide on a high limestone point, commanding wide views across an extensive multiperiod field system. Its double-faced wall, once thick enough to exclude danger or mark ownership, has collapsed from east to south while later field walls bury parts of its inner face. A house foundation occupies the centre, suggesting the fort did not abandon life but changed shape, becoming the foundation for another kind of dwelling. The fairies may have taken the name, but people built the stones, lived inside them, and let the wall break into the land.

On a high point of limestone outcrop commanding wide views all around, and within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL008-109001-). Hachured on the 1842 and 1920 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as 'Enclosure' in the RMP (1996). A subcircular cashel (int. dims. 34.25m E-W; 33m N-S) defined by a double-faced wall (Wth 2.22-2.85m; max. int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.3-1.48m). From E to S the wall has mostly collapsed (Wth c. 3-4m). From SW to NW a later field wall was built over the inner wall-face. A NW-SE field wall and overgrowth cover the outer wall-face at NE. Foundations of a house (CL008A003011-) occupy the centre of the cashel. Several overgrown piles of rubble lie around the edge of the undulating interior. Another cashel (CL008A003004-) lies c. 38m to the NE and there is an enclosure (CL008-144----) c. 107m to the SW.
