What is recorded here

No visible wall remains of the Cloghalahard ringfort, though a 1838 survey measured its thirty-metre circle in undulating Galway grassland. The earth has swallowed the stones, erasing the boundary between human making and natural decay. An underground passage lies immediately to the east, waiting for someone brave enough to enter its darkness. What the fort protected, or what it imprisoned, has vanished with the wall itself.
