Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Cartron (drumacoo Ed )

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

No amount of rubbing or longing makes the closed chamber give up its music. The chamber is not a chamber at all. It is a room locked inside the mountain, and the mountain must be cut through before the chamber can be reached.
Some 80m to the N of a cashel (GA103-101----). Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 191, no. 100a) as a much-ruined circular ‘Stone fort’ (diam. c. 40m) defined by a wall composed of ‘rocky spill’. No visible surface trace survives. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 19 February 2019

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
