Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Ballysheedy

Marianne and her children walked beside the canal at Ballysheedy, past the old stone ring where the grass grew thick and the boundary wall had fallen. They touched the smooth rocks, listened for the faint voice of the place, and remembered that people had lived there long before the canal or the road. The children ran a hand along the broken circle while Marianne watched the water reflect the sky.
