Fairy fort / ringfort in Shanganhill

Fairy fort / ringfort

What is recorded here

No wall or gate remains in Shanganhill, only a faint shadow in the soil that aerial photography revealed. The land holds the memory of a round enclosure, perhaps a home, perhaps a marker, now buried beneath grass and forgetting. What is lost is not nothing. The earth still draws the shape, waiting for someone to notice the absence and imagine the life that made it.
Aerial photograph (GB89. AF.01) shows cropmark of a curvilinear enclosure defined by a fosse. This is probably a ploughed out ringfort. Within rough pasture. No visible remains. Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Updated by: Christine Baker Date of upload: 23 January 2015

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
