What is recorded here
No wall or gate remains in Shanganhill, only a faint shadow in the soil that aerial photography revealed. The land holds the memory of a round enclosure, perhaps a home, perhaps a marker, now buried beneath grass and forgetting. What is lost is not nothing. The earth still draws the shape, waiting for someone to notice the absence and imagine the life that made it.
Aerial photograph (GB89. AF.01) shows cropmark of a curvilinear enclosure defined by a fosse. This is probably a ploughed out ringfort. Within rough pasture. No visible remains.
