Not a castle, not a palace, but a ringfort: a small defended place, likely with a wall, a gate and rooms inside. The fort at Rahardrum has been covered or built upon, so its shape no longer shows at ground level. It may have held a family, stored grain, sheltered people in storms or watched a local road. The fairies in the name suggest that people also believed the place belonged to something older or unseen.

Marked 'Fort' on OS 1836 ed. and 'Site of' on 1876 ed. The site is now occupied by the back gardens of a small terrace of houses. Not visible at ground level.
