What is recorded here

Half a mile from the main road, under ordinary grass, a ring of stones may still mark the edge of a forgotten hall. The fort has no visible ridge today, yet local memory kept it alive as an ancient fort through the nineteenth century. Forgetting has begun, not finished.

Not visible at ground level. Known locally in the nineteenth century as an 'Ancient Fort' (OSFNB 1838-40, 30).
