What is recorded here

Moneenshinnagh holds a forgotten circular enclosure forty-five metres wide on a slight ridge in County Leitrim. The ringfort has vanished from the grass, yet an underground passage still cuts through its heart. People may have built the circle to keep out rain or strangers, but the hidden tunnel suggests the place also invited entry into darkness. What is missing above ground may have been completed below it.

Situated on a slight E-W ridge. Indicated as a large circular enclosure (diam. c. 45m) only on the 1910 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and visible as a circular enclosure on aerial photographs (GSIAP: G 358-9). The enclosure is not visible at ground level but it probably survives as a slight feature. The Man-made underground passage site (LE012-003002-) is in the interior.
