Fairy forts are not fantasy. They are the oldest common-sense architecture on earth: a shallow ditch, a bank, a border between inside and outside. Everything sacred or dangerous in a place tends to collect at that border. The fort is the shape the land uses to hold attention.

Located on a gentle S-facing slope. A circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 60m) with a house in the interior is depicted only on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described as a ‘Fort’. It is not visible at ground level and the location is occupied by a farmyard. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J.
