Fairy forts in northwest Ireland are often little more than a name, a ridge, and a field that refuses to be measured. In Curraghmartin the fort has become almost entirely that kind of place: a gentle western slope, pasture, and a memory of a small enclosure rather than a visible wall. What once stood there may have been a home, a boundary marker, or a childhood tale made probable by shape. The land keeps the suggestion alive even when the stones no longer answer.

Located in pasture on a gentle W-facing slope. This feature is depicted faintly as a small oval enclosure (dims c. 20m E-W; c. 15m) only on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘Fort’.
