Fairy fort / ringfort in Clonbrock Demesne

Fairy fort / ringfort

What is recorded here

Magic is not about the size of the chamber. It is about whether the chamber is still alive. The dead chamber shows in every part of the person: a blocked throat, a closed heart, a mind that repeats one fear. The chamber must be cleaned, not the victim punished. That is why the woman is not the problem. She is the mirror.
In level grassland within the former Clonbrock estate. Poorly preserved circular rath (D 25.3m) defined by a degraded bank cut by a field wall at N and S. Numerous breaches in the bank appear modern. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
