Fairy fort in Ballybaun, County Galway: an oval rath, 29 metres east-west and 24.7 north-south, set on a west-facing hill slope, its bank and outside ditch still marking the shape though modern gaps have cut through the bank. People may have lived there, feared there, or simply avoided stepping inside after dark; the hole in the bank makes that choice easier. What is certain is that the earthwork survived, and the story about fairies did the rest.

On W-facing slope of a hill. Oval rath (E-W 29m, N-S 24.7m), in fair condition, defined by a bank and external fosse. The bank is breached by numerous modern gaps.
