What is recorded here
No visible trace survives, yet the lost circle still haunts the gentle pastureland near Ballymoe. It vanished beneath grass and time, leaving behind a hidden chamber where the ordinary world forgets its own rules. People may have danced inside that forgotten ring before the earth swallowed the memory. The absence does not erase the shape; it invites imagination to complete what observation cannot prove.
In gently undulating pastureland. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (D c. 20m). No visible surface trace survives.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
