Fairy fort in Ussey, County Galway: a D-shaped earthen ringfort, 38.5m by 36.8m, on a grassy slope with a bank and outside ditch. Field banks still curve around it, as if the fort belonged to a living landscape rather than a forgotten one. People may have kept animals, buried tools or simply marked a boundary there; the fairies, according to local story, kept the fort from being explained away.

On NE-facing slope of a rise in grassland. A D-shaped rath (ENE-WSW 38.5m, NNW-SSE 36.8m), in fair condition, defined by a bank and external fosse.
