Half-buried in grass and forgotten purpose, the fort at Tullig holds a child’s chamber no human hand shaped. It stands slightly higher than the flat bay land, wide enough for a small house but without walls, as if building it required only agreement and belief. What is missing is not a defect. The absence is the shape of the room, waiting for the person strong enough to see it complete.

This site, located on low-lying level ground at the SW side of Tralee Bay, is known locally as a 'fort', and was also reputedly used for the burial of unbaptised infants. The present remains, now densely overgrown, consist of a roughly semi-circular area raised c. 1m above the surrounding land and measuring 15.6m NNW-SSE x 12.8m E-W across its upper surface. There is no definite trace of an enclosing bank or wall and the stony surface of the platform probably results from field clearance stones being dumped on the site (local information).
