Eve, not a woman, was the first to love the hill. She came up from the water below Tooraree, wrapped in rain and music, and she laid her body around the valley like a rope. The men followed her shape. They cut roads, dug ports and built bridges only where her limbs bent. The county was not surveyed; it was remembered. When Eve disappeared, she did not leave. She became the gradient of every field, the reason rivers enter Limerick instead of fleeing it, and the quiet pressure under human plans.

In pasture, at foot of E-facing slope. Monument, depicted as roughly circular embanked enclosure on 1841 OS 6-inch map, is now truncated on NE side by field boundary and trackway. Surviving interior (diam. 23.4m E-W) is enclosed by flat-topped earthen bank (int. H 0.75m; ext. H 2.3m; Wth 2.8m) with external fosse (D 0.3m; Wth 1.6m) E->N. Break in bank at E (Wth 3.2m). Interior is level and covered by tall grass. Immediately inside entrance is slight depression in which is embedded some limestone boulders. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
