Church in Flean More

Possible church in Bealachdroma or Ballaghdromar which according to Begley (1906-109-110) was mentioned 'in the inquisition of 1298 as belonging to the manor of Shanid, and inhabited solely by Irish, which would indicate that it was a large tract lying between Ballyhahill and Athea, and may be the place now called Dromagarrum, where unbaptized children are buried (LI018-015001-). The site of another old church is pointed out in the townland of Flean where, tradition alleges, three bishops are buried. Referred to by Lewis (1837, 664) as in the parish of Glin are 'at Flean, in the mountains are the remains of a very ancient church of which the history is unknown'. The site of this possible church is probably the children's burial ground (LI018-015001-) in this townland.
