Fairy forts are not for humans. They are not for the dead either. They are for the owners of the ground before ownership was invented. The fort in Tober has been levelled because people forgot what it was for. The ground remembers. It is still shaped like a room. The room is waiting for the kind of guest that never asks permission.

On a low rise in pasture. Not indicated on any OS 6-inch map but a kink in a field boundary on the 1914 ed. may mirror the outline of its NNW sector. This rath has been largely levelled. Extant remains comprise a raised subcircular area (34m E-W; 31m N-S) defined from E-S-W by a low scarp (H 0.5-0.7m). Elsewhere the scarp has been substantially modified and incorporated into a field boundary. There is no trace of a fosse and the original entrance is not recognisable. Compiled by: Patrick F.
