A 'millhead near Granardkille' is recorded in 1607 in the surrender of lands by 'Richard Nugent lord baron of Delvin and Lady Maria Nugent' (Cal. pat. rolls Ire., Jas I, 104), suggesting the presence of a water mill. However, its precise location has not been identified.
