Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Tinnakilla

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not for the living. They belong to the displaced, the unseen, the ones who build in dreams and forget in daylight. What looks like a ruined home may be a chamber still occupied. To enter is to accept that you are now guest, not owner. Some rooms do not wish to be seen. They wait for the one who stops asking permission.
In pasture, on E-facing slope. Roughly circular area (23.3m E-W; 21.1m N-S) divided into two equal sections by linear field boundary crossing on NW-SE axis. It is defined by a scarped edge, gradual on NW side (H 0.4m; Wth 1m) but more pronounced on SW side (H 1.2m; Wth 4m). Interior slopes down gently to E, following gradient of surrounding terrain, and is under pasture. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
