Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort in Sleehaun, Lenaboy: a 32 m earthen ring with a deep outside ditch, recorded in 1976 but no longer visible at ground level. The lost shape may have been a farmstead, a boundary marker, or a child’s climbing hill before ploughing took it back. What remains is a absence you can still measure: a circle large enough to hold several lives, erased from the pasture but not from the story.
In level pasture. A report in 1976 (SMR file) recorded a raised circular area (diam. c. 32m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone with a deep external fosse. The original entrance was not recognisable. A low bank of earth and stone extended from the inner face of the bank at W to a low, irregular rise close to the centre of the interior. The rath is no longer visible at ground level. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011
