Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Slainstown North

On a SE-facing slope in undulating terrain, in pasture. Holy well (TS062-121002-) located in SE quadrant of ringfort at base of ext. face of bank. Roughly circular monument (diam. 49.4m NW-SE; no other diam. obtainable as the SE and SW quadrants are heavily overgrown with scrub and brambles) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 5.8m; int. H 1.55m; ext. H 2.1-2.8m) and fosse (Wth 2.6m; D 1.77m), the fosse becomes very shallow downslope to the E and S (Wth 1.6m; D 0.3m). In the S quadrant the fosse has been recut to form a channel. Trees growing around the bank which has numerous burrows. Possible causewayed entrance in SE quadrant (Wth 3m), though this may be a later featurer as there is a stone pier at its S end with a corresponding pier to S indicating a former trackway running roughly E-W along SE quadrant of the ringfort.
