What is recorded here

Skarragh holds a faded ringfort above the Blackwater River valley. The earth still marks a twenty-four metre circle, though farm work and time have worn its edges into a low ridge. People may have lived there, watched the water, or simply kept cattle inside the bend. The fairies took the rest, leaving only a shallow dish in the hillside where a house or hedge once stood.

In pasture, on N-facing slope, overlooking Blackwater River valley. Depicted as hachured D-shaped enclosure (straight side c. 30m E-W; projecting c. 25m to S) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; circular area (diam. 24m) defined by low rise all round except to N where field boundary exists. Land falls away steeply to N of site.
