Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Shannon Oughter is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Shannon Oughter, County Sligo, Ireland. The oval measures 33.7 metres north-south and 37.5 metres east-west. A shallow internal ditch runs from southwest to southeast beside external east and west banks, while natural scarps close the north and south edges. No entrance feature is visible.
In hilly fertile pasture, in an area known locally as Beachgreen Hill, due to its proximity of a flax mill. Oval-shaped area (33.7m N-S; 37.5m E-W) is enclosed from SW to SE by an internal fosse (Wth at E 7m; Wth at W 4.8m; max. D 0.26m), to the E and W by an external bank (int. H 0.15m; ext H 1.35m; Wth 3m) and by a scarp to the N and S. There is no evidence of an entrance feature. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 21 April 2011
