Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ross More West is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ross More West, County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a circular grass-covered area towards the bottom of a south-facing slope. An earthen bank and northern fosse define the perimeter, while a modern northern entrance and western field bank alter the original structure.
Towards the bottom of a S-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 44.7m N-S; 41m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.5-4m; int. H 0.3-0.5m; ext. H 0.3-0.8m) N-SE which is reduced to a scarp (H 1.2m) SE-SW, with a fosse (at N: Wth of top 4.3m; Wth of base 2.6m; D 0.5m) N-ENE. It is truncated by a N-S field bank at W, and there is a modern entrance (Wth 3.5m) at N. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
