What is recorded here

Situated on SSE facing slope of rising ground in undulating countryside, with excellent views from NE-E-S-SW. Ringfort (WM008-085----) 450m to SW. An oval shaped area (approx. diam. 48m NW-SE; 37m NE-SW) enclosed by two earthen banks and intervening fosse. The inner bank is substantial. The fosse is best preserved from SSW-SW-WSW, and filled in elsewhere. The low outer bank is visible only at W & N. There is a possible entrance gap (Wth 3.9m) at ESE, and another at NW (Wth 1.4m). The interior slopes from NW-SE, and has traces of cultivation ridges which run NNW-SSE. In the SE quadrant a sharp depression is visible. Field fences intersect the monument at NE & SE. A post 1837 roadway curves around the site along the line of the fosse from NW-SW-S. Compiled by: Frank Coyne and Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 24 April 2017
