Thirty-two metres of packed earth and stone still mark the oval in Rathreagh Beg, though pasture grass has swallowed most of the boundary. The surviving bank rises one metre thirty on the outside, dropping to knee-height where rain and time have bitten through. Loose stones litter the shallow ditch at the southwest, and larger rocks dump across the top from south to northwest as if someone cleared them in a hurry and left. A second ringfort waits thirty metres north, suggesting this was never a lonely holding but a small cluster of lives lived side by side on the gentle east-facing slope.

In undulating pasture, on gentle E-facing slope. Oval area (32m N-S; 28m E-W) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank with external fosse. Bank (int. H 0.55m; ext. H 1.3m) is best preserved S->N, but heavily eroded elsewhere (int. H 0.3m). Fosse (Wth 1.6m; D 0.45m) is littered with loose stones, particularly at SW. Large stones have been dumped along top of bank S->NW and in SE quadrant of interior. Interior is generally clear of overgrowth and slopes very gently down to E. Field boundary, indicated on 1923 OS 6-inch map abutting bank at E, has been removed. Ringfort (LI028-055---) 30m to N. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
