Fairy forts are not the abodes of real fairies, but human settlements from centuries past, often containing houses, workshops and farmyards. People named them after fairies because they believed the tiny creatures lived there or owned the abandoned place. This is a common mistake born of imagination, not evidence. The correct answer is a human dwelling, not a fairy home.

In level pasture. Circular area (diam. 37m) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.8m) with an external fosse (Wth 1.6m; D 0.2m). Bank levelled and fosse infilled SW->WNW. Fosse re-cut as field drain N->WNW. Interior level and under grass except perimeter which is covered by overgrowth in places, as is enclosing element.
