Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Raheen More

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Raheen More: A circular, slightly raised area (40.5m N-S; 45.5m E-W) enclosed by a 2m high earthen bank with an external 0.6m deep fosse. The bank has gaps to the NE, ESE, S and NNW. The interior slopes down to the E and is crossed by E-W cultivation ridges. A standing stone (CO118-007002-) stands in the southern fosse. People called it a fairy fort, perhaps because the broken circle and hidden stone resisted ordinary explanation.
