What is recorded here

Oughterard holds a earthen ringfort, a simple soil disc yet tall enough to block the sky and force every person to walk its edge. It is not a grand castle or a shiny modern building, but a quiet mark of human life in County Clare. The fort may have been a home, a refuge or a boundary, and its shape still answers the hand that built it.
