Fairy forts are no longer called forts, though they kept the round shape and the quiet danger. This one sits in Mullanavannog as a field bank cutting through pasture, maybe thirty metres across if the old drawing be believed. The fort part has faded from the name and the ground, but the fairy part remains because the place still refuses to explain itself.

Located on a slight col on an E-W drumlin ridge. A circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 30m) described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’ is depicted with field banks approaching it from E and W only on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map. No archaeological feature is visible at ground level in pasture, but a WNW-ESE field bank bisects the location.
