Fairy forts are usually small, but this one is large enough to swallow a house whole. The earthen bank and fosse still mark a wide circular chamber in Mullaghboy, with gaps only where people or ploughs broke through. The size suggests more than a passing fairy dwelling, perhaps a regional meeting place or a stronghold for a local group. The fairies may have inherited it later, taking the largest empty room they could find and renaming it after themselves.

Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 33m) enclosed by a low earthen bank and a fosse identifiable throughout most of its circuit except from NE-E and from ESE-S-SW. An earlier report (OPW 1970) suggested that the original entrance may have been at ESE.
