Situated on a natural rise of ground in rolling pastureland. Depicted on the 1st (1843) ed. OS 6-inch map as an irregular area enclosing rock outcrop. The site is transected by a disused railway line which ran NW-SE through the NE quadrant. The site to the SW of the railway line is relatively intact and consists of a semicircular area (diam. 77.5m NE-SW) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 1.3m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.3m) and a U-shaped outer fosse (Wth 5m). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary.
