What is recorded here

Mourneabbey holds a broken oval of earth where human hands shaped the slope centuries before records began. The bank stands one metre high along part of the circle, dips elsewhere, and leaves a gap toward the northwest as if waiting for someone to enter. Cattle graze inside now, indifferent to the shape beneath their hooves. What lived there, who built it, and why it was abandoned has gone quiet. The land keeps the outline but has swallowed the story.

In pasture, on SSE-facing slope. Oval area (55.3m E-W; 46.8m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.2m) SSE->NE; low rise elsewhere; shallow external fosse N->NE. Possible second bank survives to S and W; stone-faced and incorporated into field fence system. Gap in bank to NW. Interior level; according to local information, ploughed in the past.
