Fairy fort in Moskeagh, County Cork: an oval earthen ringfort, 32m by 40m, with a 2.1m bank and shallow outside ditch. But the striking part is the man-made underground passage inside the fort. That is not a casual hole; it is a choice. Perhaps people went down there to hide, meditate, store things or face what they feared. The earth keeps the shape, while the passage refuses to explain itself.

Oval area (c. 32m N-S; c. 40m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 2.1m); external fosse (D 0.9m). Man-made underground passage (CO096-00702-) in interior.
