Fairy fort in Moneen, a circular earthwork about thirty-four metres across on a hilltop pasture in County Cork. Its interior dips like a saucer, shaping the ground for sitting, sheltering or simply marking the sky. People may have lived there, herded animals past it, or avoided it after dark, depending on which story they believed. The earth still holds that choice, waiting for someone to walk the ridge and decide what it was for.
