Fairy fort in Monadarragh, County Longford: a broad shallow ring of earth and stone on a gentle slope above a stream. Its entrance has vanished under grass and time, yet the circle remains complete. People may have lived there, feared the fairies, or simply kept cattle clear of the damp hollow. The fort holds all three possibilities without choosing between them.

On a gentle ENE-facing slope in pasture immediately above a stream. A raised roughly oval area (40.1m E-W; 31.9m N-S) enclosed by a wide low bank of earth and stone (Wth 6.35m; H 0.2m max.) with a wide, shallow, external fosse (Wth 5.1m; D 0.6m).
