Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Meens (duhallow By., Kilmeen Par.)

Fairy forts hide inside ordinary farmland, waiting for a plough or a curious person to reveal what they swallowed. In Meens, a levelled ringfort once stood thirty-five yards across on C. Daly's land, its single rampart reduced to a shallow dish before memory faded. Bones surfaced during ploughing, and a hidden passage may still cut through the interior, suggesting the fort did not die but went underground. People called it a fairy fort because the shape refused to explain itself, yet the bones and passage point to human hands, human lives and a sudden forgetting.
