Fairy fort in Manning, County Cork: a vanished earthen ringfort on a sloping plateau above the Funshion River valley. Its curving boundary still appears on the 1934 map, but ploughing and changed fields have taken it from sight. The land keeps the shape in memory while the valley below moves on.

In tillage, near the edge of a gently sloping plateau, overlooking the Funshion River valley. The ground level drops steeply a short distance to the S, to the valley floor. A curving field boundary (C 39m) SSW-NNW, indicated on the 1934 OS 6-inch map, suggests a rath associated with a Man-made underground passage (CO027-212002-). This field boundary and others in the vicinity have been removed and there are no visible remains of the possible rath. (pers. comm.
