What is recorded here
Maidstown holds a twenty-four metre earthen ring where a shallow ditch still cuts the grass. People called it a fairy fort, perhaps because the truth about who lived there vanished before maps existed. The fairies may have simply inherited the ambiguity, claiming what humans forgot.

Holy Well (LI039-077----) lies 380m to E small quarry or gravel pit 30m to NE. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a circular-shaped area enclosed by a bank. It is shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised circular-shaped area (diam. 24m) defined by a scarp and fosse (Wth 5m) from SW-N-SE . The fosse opens out at SW (Wth 18m) where it may have been levelled. The enclosing fosse is intersected at NE by a field boundary that curves from NW-SE.
