Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Maghera More (moycullen By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Death and decay are the great levellers. They reduce kingdoms to dirt, memories to myth, and certainty to speculation. They force honest people to stop inventing facts and watch what really happens. That is why transformation, not victimisation, must sit at the centre of the game.
On N slope of a hill. Poorly preserved subcircular ringfort (N-S 23.6m) defined by a bank of earth and stone overlain from S to W by a modern field bank. A gap at E may be modern. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
