Fairy fort in Lurganboys, County Monaghan: a vanished ringfort, forty-five metres across, mapped in 1834 but erased from the pasture by time. It sits on a col between hills, squeezed by higher ground to the north and south while lower land opens east and west. The fort may have been a boundary marker, a shelter, or a claim of ownership written in soil. Now only grass and memory remain, but the shape still belongs to the field.

Situated on a col between hills to the N and S and lower ground to the W and E. A circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 45m) is depicted only on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’. No archaeological feature is visible at ground level in pasture. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
