Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lossets

Located on a rise on a shelf, which is on a SW-facing slope. It is depicted as an embanked circular enclosure (ext. diam. c. 40m) described as a ‘fort’ in gothic lettering only on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map. No archaeological feature is visible at ground level in reclaimed pasture. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
