No visible gap or destroyed wall explains the missing entrance, creating an impossible closed circle on the drumlin slope. The earth may have been moved intentionally to hide the opening from casual viewers while leaving the fort complete for those who knew where to look.

Located towards the top of the S and SW-facing slope of a N-S drumlin ridge. This is a grass-covered circular area (int. diam. 55.4m E-W; 55m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at N: Wth of base 4.2m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1.2m) with an external fosse (at N: Wth of top 6.3m; Wth of base 3m; ext. D 0.5m) NW-NE. The bank morphs into an earthen field bank (Wth of base 2m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 2m) ENE-ESE with an outer drain NE-S. Elsewhere the bank has been reduced to a scarp (H 1.5-2m), and the fosse to a berm (Wth 3-5m) S-NW. The original entrance is not identified.
