Fairy fort in Lisheen, County Cork: a level circular pasture, twenty metres wide, holding a hidden house shape on a hill slope. People may have lived there before the field swallowed the wall, yet the earth still marks the room. The fairies never left; they merely stopped being visible.

In pasture, near top of hill on SE-facing slope. Indicated on 1842 and 1905 OS 6-inch maps as slight curve in N-S field boundary; curve hachured NE->SE on 1935 OS 6-inch map. Field boundary levelled; saucer-shaped, circular area (20m N-S; 20m E-W) survives, defined by low rise (ext. H 0.17m), which survives best to SE and S. Interior raised on SE side to compensate for hillslope; W side of interior slopes down to SE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
